A family SUV needs to do four things in Ghana: handle bad roads without falling apart, seat the family in comfort, sip fuel rather than gulp it, and hold its value when you decide to upgrade. These five do all four.
Toyota RAV4 (2019+)
The benchmark. The 5th-gen RAV4 has stronger ground clearance, a better cabin and the option of hybrid. Parts and mechanics everywhere.
Honda CR-V (2017–2022)
Roomier rear seat than the RAV4 and a smoother ride. The 1.5L turbo is excellent on fuel if maintained properly.
Hyundai Tucson (2019+)
Often the best value at auction for what you get. Generous warranty history in the US, modern interior, and very comfortable on long drives to Kumasi or Cape Coast.
Toyota Highlander (2017+)
Step up to a three-row family SUV when you need it. The V6 is bulletproof and the resale is excellent.
Nissan Rogue / X-Trail (2017+)
A good-value alternative if RAV4 prices are running hot. The CVT is the only real concern — service it religiously.
What this means for you
If parts and resale matter most, RAV4 or Highlander. If you want the best cabin for the money, Tucson or CR-V. We'll send live options at your budget.
